O visa extensions are granted to foreigners who are over 50 years and who want to stay in Thailand for a period of one year or those who want to join their spouses of Thai nationality. This extension is granted by the immigration authorities of the place of residence of the applicant

1 – Obligations

– Do not be a ban on entry
– Not have been convicted of a crime or offense against the security of Thailand, a country or that of his residence
– Do not be a drug addict or carrying contagious diseases (leprosy, tuberculosis, elephantiasis, syphilis)
– Do not intend to take up paid employment in Thailand

2 – Documentation Requirements

A) Visa Extension O (Retired)

– Having more than 50 years during the visa application
– Passport with a validity period exceeds 18 months
– Visas O
– Visa application form duly completed
– A photograph taken from the front, bareheaded, 4×6 cm, (less than 6 months)
– A certificate of residence
– A copy of the statement of account showing a credit balance of at least 800,000 baht or a monthly income certificate (issued by the Consulate of the country of origin of the applicant) of at least 65,000 baht, or a deposit account and income monthly total at least 800,000 baht per year
– If the statement, provide a letter from the bank confirming the bank account balance
– If the certificate of income, provide the original

B) Visa Extension O (Thai Spouse)
– Passport with a validity period exceeds 18 months
– Visas O
– Photocopy of passport pages on which are recorded the identity of the applicant and the visa he obtained
– Visa application form duly completed
– A photograph of the applicant taken full face, bareheaded, 4×6 cm, (less than 6 months)
– A certificate of residence
– Translation of the family record book certified by the Consulate applicant’s home
– A copy of the statement of account showing a credit balance of at least 400,000 baht or a monthly income certificate (issued by the Consulate of the country of origin of the applicant) of at least 32,500 baht, or a deposit account and income monthly total at least 400,000 baht per year
– If the statement, provide a letter from the bank confirming the bank account balance
– If the certificate of income, provide the original
– A photograph of the joint Thai-taking face, bareheaded, 4×6 cm, recent (less than 6 months)
– Copy of family book of the Thai wife
– Photocopy of ID card of the Thai wife

Presence of the Thai spouse required at the time of filing the visa application. The immigration officer will keep the couple about an hour time to hear the case.

NOTE: The amount of “deposit” is halved when the applicant for extension of visa O has over 60 years.

3 – Rates

1900 baht fee.

4 – Validity

The validity of non-immigrant visa (long stay) is 1 year.

5 – Production time

For applications for visa extension O (Retired) deposited in the immigration time is 1 to 2 days ..

6 – Recommendations

– Every 90 days, the holder of the visa extension O, will need to signalize to the officer of the immigration service depending on the place of residence or, if the police station for cities without a immigration office.
* The renewal of visa is subject to the discretion of the officer of the Immigration Service.
